Programmer and boost

Got my truck back together and took it out a few times to see how she runs. Couldn't get more than 17 pounds of boost. Found a small boost leak and now she'll give me 19psi. I was really expecting more. Just wonder if maybe I had a DP tuner it would be better. I have the Turbo Master turned all the way in. The search continues for more leaks but could it be the programmer that is not allowing higher boost numbers?

I think you would get more boost out of the DP-TUNER. Have you looked at your up-pipes to see if they are leaking? If you see soot on any of the connections, you are loosing boost. I don't think 19# boost is really bad for what you have.

I saw about 23-24 on my gauge today. I have heard that stock our trucks will only do about 22. However I do have a wicked wheel and I tightened my rod on the valve to keep it from loosing boost. I would think you would get more than 19 with what you have also.

I'm getting close to 40# boost with my setup. The WW will give you a little less boost.

The very best I get is, 16 MPG on the highway. I have 4:10 gears, plus being a dually. I don't know what I get in city driving. Not in the city much. lol

Spent some more time trying to seal up any leaks. Think I fixed the problem. Took the truck out and put the pedal to the floor and blew the intercooler pipe out of the boot. So, I need to get some decent clamps and then try it out again.

rick with my new h2e on stock sticks im boosting 36 lbs in my second to highest setting! my birthday is in 3 weeks and momma (wifey) is buying me sticks. i decided on stage 1's but with close to 40 lbs on stockers im thinking valve springs, pushrods and headstuds are in order. did you add any of those to your rig?

No I have none of the above, Bill. I have been thinking about getting stronger parts because of that, but I very seldom let it get that high. I am as far as I plan to go with what I have now.

I agree with you on the stronger parts when you have the VC's off anyway.

You don't need that stuff with Stage 1 sticks. You could argue that I do, but I'm still holding together at over 35psi (max on my gauge) and 238cc hybrids....

I can get 20 lbs of boost with my truck stock and my waste gate tightened up just a tad and with my DP I get almost 30. So yea I think 19 is a lil low. Also I am running factory injectors and ww

isnt 40 lbs when the gaskets decide to go? the springs are definintely getting done its cheap (175 bucks) insurance in my mind and after reading the post about the pushrods i fugured anbother 200 bones for peace of mind wasnt out of line. kinda like playing over 400 hp with pmr's. might work at first but when the block gives up the ghost you wish you would have thought about the supporting components more.....jmo.....

also youre only hitting 35 lbs on stage 2's? i figured it woud be more than that. or is your turbo maxed out?

ah nevermind i just read your gauge is maxed at 35. ooops.....
