Very cool! I hope somebody knows more about this. I'm quite interested.
hello im a nubee to the forum but i have some info on the smith and grimmer schmidt compressors.
long ago i was a mechanic in a rental store and worked on both brands of compressors.
i know that g s in the late 1970s used either the 351c or 351m engine (175cfm compressed air output) and the 302(125 cfm). if i remember gs in the late 1980s or early 1990s used a 460 engine.
in 1982 the rental company bought six 100 cfm (302) smiths for the rental fleet.
later i helped with the start-up of a small rental store and installed a long block in a used 100 cfm smith.
the difference in cfm rating of the two 302 engines had only to do with the rpm the two mfgs ran the engines at.
