hey,
im new to this forum...but i have a 1961 f250 with the 223 motor and i was wondering if there is a way to find the specs for the truck? like the fluid capacities?
Several vendors, one of which is LMC Truck, sell reprints of your original owner's manual, which contains the relevant information you're looking for regarding fluids plus a lot more. LMC sells the manual for $9.95 + ship. www.LMCtruck.com.
Welcome to the forum. If you are going to get serious about working on your truck, a shop manual would be the way to go, much more info than owner's manual. They are also available in various places. There's a repo available on Ebay BIN $50 plus shipping. Besides, if you get the shop manual you will have many more questions!
Welcome aboard, what fluid capacities are you after? I never use those, if it's correctly filled, it's good, I'm not going to drain and measure and put back just to compare...

I need to know the transmission code off of the Vin Plate
I need the Axle code off of the VIN plate located on the inside of the glovebox.
I cannot find any numbers on either frame rail. Only thing that has numbers is the plate on the drivers door. And I figured it was a 61 cause the last thing on that plate says 61. I knew how to read the vin till the assembly plant but didnt know the numbers after the D. So I guess it's a 64 haha. But it has the 4 speed manual transmission if that helps...

The VIN is stamped in on the top surface, you'll need to take a wire brush to it to find it. The 4 Speed Warner transmissions capacity was 8 pints. On the door tag there should be a two digit axle code number, it should be behind the letter F which is the 4 speed transmission code.
Oh ok. Well I'll check and get back to you...I looked up and down the frame rails but didn't see amything. Maybe if I take a brush to it. Haha. Oh and also you said 18 quarts for coolant, that seems a bit much because I think last time I filled the coolant, I think only 2.5 gallons fit...
