Was just cruising thru Wall World today and picked up a magazine called "Diesel Power" I think and read an arcticle on them doing a Ford VS Duramax challenge..well the end results was Duramax beat out Ford on every test except mileage and it tied Duramax in that category. Really surprised as I thought Ford had the edge as far as power. Incidently the results wasn't really close..sorry I don't have particulars....they were pulling a 28,000 lb load up a grade..
Yea i read it to the max supposly smoked the SD in pulling , and they had the updated ford that has 800 ft torgue. it also beat it in breaking big time. They did not dyno the trucks. I think chevy brought a ringer.
Those darn Izuzu's. LOL!!! What are the Weights of the newer trucks? I know the 6.0 PSD Ford's were over 1000 lbs. heavier then a comparable Chevy with the Duramax. That would factor in to braking and more weight up a grade, but now I'm just making excuses
There's probably a reason they tested them at altitude...just like there was a reason that back in the 70's they brought a F250 to a half ton fight, brought a automatic 5.0 Mustang to compete against a Camaro because the 5.7 wouldn't cert with a 5 speed...make it so the Chevy wins. I pay little attention to car or truck rag tests, I've seen it biased in Chevy's favor so many times.
