Since this thread is already open, I'll jump in. Just ohmed mine out because of hard starts and 5 read between 1.0 and 1.4, 3 had no reading at all. Bad plugs or bad wire??? I know is smokes like smoke bomb in the morning. Two open readings on left side and one on right side. Ugg
Unfortunately I don't think you will be able to determine that until you pull the VCs and once your that far might as well put in new GPs no matter the problem. UGG!
Shouldn't I get some sort of reading on even a bad plug? 3 are showing completely open circuit. Two outside one on one side and one inside one on the other side. Sure makes 14 degree starts smokey

That's exactly how mine was. I even thumped the ohm meter thinking it wasn't working... Duh!
ok so here we go.....i ohmed both side a minute ago to decide i would be better off drinking and cursing the truck then working on it. I have the back pin on the driver side ohmed 2.5 the other 3 pins hit .8 to 1.0. the relay tested good (once i figured out how to use that darn multimeter) and to top it all off when i looked at the driver side back pin it looked kinda funny, and when i say funny i mean bad. it was burnt and when the plug came off it left the metal contact on the pin. so now i know i need 1 gp and a new harness. am i correct or can it be salvaged.
the passanger side all read between .7 and .9
all the pins in both plugs looked tarnished. thanks FTE you have made my live alot easier this week.
Pass. side sounds good, the drivers side VC needs to come off and see what's under there. 2.5 is too high and the broken pin will have to be repaired and I don't think it can be salvaged.
Sounds like the best thing to do is to get a set of glow plugs, wiring harnesses, and a relay and install them.
While it's all apart, retorque the rocker arm pedastals and injector hold downs.

That's sounds good, what are the torque specs for all me that?
