I figured I'd post up this issue I'm having with my Super Duty and see if anyone has any suggestions. It is an 04 Crew 4wd with V10/6speed. Since I bought it last spring the brake pedal has always seemed a little soft, but lately it has been getting worse. When I first push the pedal, I have to push it at least halfway down before it does anything and If I have to stop quick, the pedal will hit the floor long before it slides the tires, and it will slowly come to a stop. I have to pump the pedal once or twice at every stop before I have good pedal feel.
When this happens on my old '79 F350 it usually means the rear drum brakes are out of adjustment, so I crawl under and give them a few turns and the problem is fixed. When the brakes are adjusted correctly it will throw you through the windshield when you mash the pedal, even when I was running 36s on it. My Super Duty, on the other hand, has disks all around, so there is now way to adjust them. I am running 35s on the Super Duty, but I still think it should stop much better than it does, especially with such large brakes. We have an 09 Super Duty at work and it always has a very firm pedal feel and very strong brakes.
Any suggestions? Pads and rotors are good on the truck, and I've never had anything apart. Don't really know the history on it though, I bought it last March.
