Hello,
This is the first time I've used this forum.
I'm looking for someone who can help me determine the correct tooth count for a speedometer gear for my 64 F100 1/2 ton two wheel drive. It has a 223 6 cylinder with a 3 speed manual transmission, all original drive train. The rear end ratio is 3.89 and I'm running normal 235 15" tires. I've been working on the restoration for many years and misplaced the original gear. After talking with many parts houses that deal with early Ford parts they suggested I use this forum to get the correct tooth count. I'd appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thanks. Andy
Robert, I have a 16T to go with my 2.75 gear, for his 3.89 I would start in the 18-19T range. A lot of times you can pick them up on the ground in a salvage yard, where a tranny has been pulled, or still on the dangling speedo cable. There is a clip on the side that needs to be pulled off and the gear is yours.
