WHY?!?!?!?

I'm the proud owner of a 2001 Ford Excursion with a 7.3 below the hood (owned since new), but lately I've found myself wanting a 6.0 Excursion and possibly giving up my 7.3

What's wrong with me?

Anyone else deal with this?

Giving up the 7.3L Ex would be like committing suicide. I think you need to feed your
PMS disease with a new set of tires or something.

Not with the Ex, but with DRWs. I had an 7.3 before I got a 5.9 and then came back to Ford with the 6.0.

If you do your research, the 6.0 will blow the 7.3 away, but if you get someone else's problem or you don't get up to snuff with your 6.0 info, then you might regret it at that.

Gone are they days where you can just "blow and go" with a diesel. Make sure you really need a diesel if you go with the 6.0 or are willing to do a few things every so often to make sure your 6.0 is happy.

I said possibly, but I should've said never...after driving it and just listening to that motor fire up and go down the road, it's something I could never part with. I would instead bring home a "younger" sibling for the X.

I know the ins, the outs, and do's and don't of the 6.0; enough about the 6.0 to tear one apart and put it back together in my sleep. Both my neighbors have '04 6.0 trucks and I guess I'm having a little 6.0 envy...

I still want one though...

Then after that, take a spin in my truck and see which one you would want to be in.

Not exactly true.

Not really needed. I'm pushing far more then 95% of the 6.0 owners and not only do I still have my EGR system fully intacted and functional, but it's the original system as well.

Maybe, maybe not. Just depends, and even then I think even if you did get injectors from Ford now, wouldn't they be reman anyway?

depends we still have a stock of the none remand ones. still we have junk diesel here the injectors only seem to last 50k-70k before failing. less on the ambulances they seem to go 30k due to the constant idling

still see way too many EGR cooler failures in my area (may be it's the maintance? the weather being colder put's more striane on the metal constantly shrinking and expanding do to the change in temp? idk) to ever keep one on my personal truck just got done putting in a delete kit today for a guy that had 3 of them go out on him. i do not know the full story as another dealer put on the 3 coolers we just did the delete kit

studs would be becuase i hate stock lol

I dont blame you. Other than reliability, the 6.0 is better than the 7.3 in every way as far as im concerned. It sounds better, makes more power, has a nicer interior, the list goes on.
