Not to scare you but I had to have my tranny rebuilt at 110,000. Dont know exactly what happend but I know I was at the dump with about 12k behind me. Never the less I still love the truck.
That's good news to hear!! This is the other truck I'm thinking about looking at, the only problems is that it is 2.5-3 hrs away. 99 F-250 7.3 liter 6 spd xcab
Also too much money IMO.
Are you on the coast or in Spokane? I suppose 9k would be a fair price on the crew cab. That 99 is an early 99, just FYI (do a search on early vs late 99). I think he's a bit far fetched asking 10.5k for it, I'd say more like 8.5 honestly.
Just FYI I sold my early 99 crew cab short box 4x4 last spring with 198k miles on it, intake, exhaust, DP Tuner, and 3 gauge a-pillar set up for $10k even.
I read the differences between the two but will a early 99 be as reliable as a late 99? I'm not looking to make more power than stock. I'm looking for a daily driver and a tow rig to tow my jeep on the weekends and I just want it to be reliable.

An early 99 is a fine truck, there are no reliability concerns. The biggest problem is finding certain parts for the chassis because there were some small changes, and you are somewhat limited when it comes to the performance stuff without upgrading to late model parts (which doesn't sound like it will be a problem for you).
So I carfaxed the VIN number and found out that the truck was originaly from Illinois and spend the first 7 years of life there. Should I be worried about rust from salt and ice melting chemicals? Whould you turn down a truck because it was from that area? Teh truck is 3 hrs away and I dont want to waste my time and gas money if buying trucks fromt that area should be avoided. Thanks for all the info!

As far as checking rust areas, aside from the obvious, the oil pans on these are particularly prone to severe corrosion. Oil pan replacement/repair can be expensive and/or time consuming. Good luck on your search.
