light came on driving to work this morning, when it did I really didnt notice a significant drop in power but thinking I may have lost a little and while pulling a grade the tranny didnt seem to kick down like usual and i had to step on the go pedal to get it to kick down.........after a few miles I pulled over and turned the truck off and restarted it........all was fine and no cel.
btw: seems like I was hearing a clickin noise or something tapping around fuse box area (something i have never heard before) but when i got to work i did have a lighter in my door that could have been the culprit plus my crime stopper was layin against the e-brake so could have been either.
thanks again like always, you guys allways get me pointed in the right direction
gonna go get diagnosed at lunch, this light keeps coming back on, goes off everytime i turn truck off but will come back shortly and I loose NOTICEABLE power and cant hardly get any boost??? you guys wanna give me your opinions on what it is and I'll reply back as soon as I find out
Its too hard to say. Get the code and we can figure out what it is from there. If it keeps happening and your losing power, the computer is seeing something it doesn't like. You need to scan it to know what that is. FYI, everytime you restart the truck after a CEL, it will always reset the light. So that part is totally normal.
just got back from autozone. they said i had to do it and this was my first time.........followed directions and it said no codes found (or something the same) guessin cause my light wasnt on. i piddled and found something that said stored or memory codes (something like that) and I got 5 codes. (keep in mind i put a new stock turbo on a month ago), codes r p0562, p0107,p0236,p0470,p1211
make sure the scanner you use is OBDI (ford) capable. you should be able to repeatedly download DTCs and get consistent results. If the DTCs shown vary, I'd suspect the scanner doesn't speak ford's OBDI language fluently.
mine is a 97' the scanner i used was autozones and was just like the one wally world sales. it gave me the codes so it must have worked. I think it is fixed now.......my boost gauge tube was split pretty bad where it goes in to original line.......has ran great since I fixed that. but also have only drove it about 50 miles so keep fingers crossed.
