I am a life long Ford fan, but i just purchased my first F-150. I have been a Mustang fan for a long time and have owned 4 of them, but 8 months ago we had our first baby and i made the decision to take a break from the Mustang scene for a while. I also made the biggest mistake of my life and bought my first non Ford vehicle..a 4x4 Dodge Dakota 4 door...hated it..so here we are 8 months later and i'm back at home in a Ford. I really really really love this truck, but i admit that i dont know near as much about them as i do Mustangs so thats why im here!
The truck is an 05 FX4, 5.4. I am sure most of you guys can tell me more about it than i can just by looking at it. My dad has owned a 97 5.4 before and he warned me of the fuel mileage, but my first two tanks have been hand calculated 14.7, and 14.8 MPG, and i dont think thats too bad for a 4 speed auto with the big engine in winter. Here is a picture, and i apologize that its not clean, but it has snowed ever since i bought it.
Hi There ! Man that is one clean looking truck right there! I sure hope you enjoy it!! Congrats! I just bought my 05 f150 a week or so ago. Man I sure love it..
Good to have you here Sinnedam! What part of TN are you from? I'm living in Nashville, TN and bought my first Ford F150 FX4 supercab 2 months ago. I would say the only thing you really need to be careful of is the spark plugs which don't come all of the way out sometimes and break inside..but not always. People normally just get a Lisle Tool and take their time chainging them out but a few normally break in the process it seems.
You should get good gas mileage as I was getting at least 19 on the highway with 3.73 gears. The F-150 received a 5 star government rated safety rating for front end collisions which is best in the truck class. You have a family and they will be very safe inthe truck. Good move on getting rid of the Mustang as the truck is much safer. Hope to see you on the roads in TN!
Haven't saw anywhere near 19 but im right at 15 and that's acceptable to me. I am in east TN northeast of knoxville...don't get out to nashville often but thanks for the welcome!
