Sorry to bug you guys with this question. I'm working on a 42 1/2 ton and need a rear end. It seems the early broncos might be a perfect fit, bolt in even. I just need to confirm it befoe I spend the cash. Can any of you tell me the width of the spring pads, the measurment from the center of the left pad to the center of the right pad, and the distance between the backing plates? Your assitance in this is greatly appriciated.
The spring pads are approx 36" center to center. And they are 2 1/4" wide. They can easily be changed to whatever you need though.
The width between the inner backing plates is approx 52".
I believe the width from axle flange to axle flange is about 58".
These measurements are based off of a big bearing, large brake early housing. They may vary slightly for a different housing.
There are 5 different housings for the Bronco.
66-75 small bearing, 10" x 2.5" brakes
66-75 big bearing, 11" x 1.75" brakes
73-75 big bearing, 10" x 1.75" brakes,
76 big bearing 11" x 2.25" brakes
77 big bearing 11" x 2.25", with HD reinforced housing
