I put it all together, had some 6" angle steel that I made the mount out of......alot of measuring and time to design and decide where to put it. The isolator is a common part used on commercial rigs and RV's......it only connects the aux battery when voltage is above 12v then auto disconnects so as not to kill the truck batteries...about $100 and worth it.
Rotun... I've had your pics from another thread bookmarked and occasionally go there to dream...
One Question - your battery isolator just looks like a standard solenoid - is it something special? And could you layout how you wired that into your battery/alt. system?
Wow! Thanks for all the awesome responses so far. Especially yours Rotun, now that I'm out of the bathroom typing with two hands ;-)
I was already thinking bigger tank, not sure if the budget will withstand an Oasis, aren't they the A/C compressors with an electric motor? Might be overkill for what I want, but overkill usually keeps you from buyer's remorse later.
Just want to be able to air up my tires, the occasional trailer tire, tractor tire, etc... Air matresses, towables, inflatable dolls and all that would just be a bonus. Just tired of not having a compressor around when I need it. Most of the ones at a service station are either broke, or won't go to 65psi.
Besides, I need to hook something up to the switches I paid for!
Oasis is the only way to go if you are serious going to use the system, pricey....YES, but well worth it if you are going to rely on that air system. Here's pics of my setup with a 3rd gel deep cycle battery mounted to the frame, don't forget a battery isolator, I put an auto isolator in. Also might want to plumb using d.o.t. air lines, been in -29 weather and no issues.

Oasis are 100% duty cycle at 200psi, it is basically an EDC York compressor mounted to a serious elect. motor. Utility company vehicles and military use these. Well worth the $ if you are going to use it.
the only thing that sucks about this system is that it is not on my truck, love it! great mod!!
If you are talking about hooking a compressor up to the upfitter switches if you run a large capacity compressor you may want to wire directly to the battery, they draw a lot of amps on startup, your compressor will last longer that way.

The upfitter switch will power the relay to start the compressor, compressor gets heavy .ga to the battery.
That's a super sweet setup there rotun. That's what I've been wishing for in the abstract for a while, but now you put it right there in front of me in pictures and holy cow is it sweet.
Thank you,
To everyone.........I realize this setup is pretty costly and to make it a little easier on the $ I just pieced it together over about 1 year. It was a little difficult once I received the compressor because it sat in the shop for quite sometime while I made up the mount out of remnant 5" C channel. It was alot of work but spreading it out and not trying to get it all done at once it seemed pretty easy. I also requested certain items/ cash for birthdays/Christmas and eventually had everything ready to put in.
The smaller Viairs are fine, I have nothing against them and would be much easier to find a suitable mounting location, however, I figure the Oasis will way outlast more then a few of the Viair simply due to the design and materials (e.g. not an "oil-free" type). I also don't like waiting for my tank to "catch up" while working with the air, at 200 psi in a 5 gal. tank I never need to wait, makes it real nice when filling up the 37's at temps below freezing. My original plan was to put the York EDC under the hood, but my truck has factory dual alternators and I wasn't about to lose 1 of them, then I found the Oasis and started saving up.
Anyone needing info. go ahead and post, I'm more then happy to help.
I just have mine wired straight to the battery, it comes on and off with the pressure switch, if I want to kill the power I just pull the fuse at the battery that way I save the upfitter switches for the smaller appliances and eliminate a relay. Your setup looks nice though that must be an old york a/c compressor like on the old fords and dodges, is that the aluminum one or cast iron? Is that plastic tubing or metal? I had to put a heat shield on my tubing it would melt from the exhaust heat when sitting in traffic here in the summer.
Wired that way doesn't the compressor come on while the truck is just parked in the middle of the night, engine not running? My pressure switch is connected to an aux switch I added in the drivers cubby to prevent the system from running when I'm not there. It is a cast iron York, more commonly found on Volvo's these days. Tubing is D.O.T. approved 1/2" air-brake lines.
