Bad Generator or Voltage Reg???

Thanks to all for the helpful replies. You know the more I think about this, since I would like to drive my truck a 2-3 days a week to work, considering using the headlights and slow traffic, perhaps I would be better off going with a 6 volt 1 wire alternator. Either that our hooking up my battery tender the night before to ensure the battery is topped-off.

Just my 2 cents. But I'm gonna borrow from that quote under your signature. "If it ain't broke. Don't fix it". Once I got my 49 charging this summer, it never missed a beat. I went out in 10 degree weather the other day and it cranked after sitting for at least 2 or 3 weeks. The battery tender is a good idea. Did you change out the regulator?
