We joined the Excursion club!

Well...
We started looking for a Jeep, decided to get a diesel Excursion, and then ended up buying a V10...
Gotta love your wife....really...ya gotta...

Our new (to us) Excursion is a 2005 Eddie bauer 4x4 with the V10. 113k miles, One owner, and looks/drives like it was babied its entire life. White with gold trim. Dealer had it for $22k, we paid $17k.

Plans are for a 4 or 5 inch lift sometime in February/March.
And I already have "permission" to start planning Mods and other changes.
Adding Nav, changing interior lights to LED's, HID headlights, ect....

Still have to wait for the check from insurance which is due this week before we can bring the Ex home, but paperwork is done

Cant wait to get out of this tiny rental car and back into something comfortable!!

Welcome to the club...

What part of CA you from?...I'm currently on a business trip and am sitting in Cypress...not that I think you are near here with how big CA is...just asking!

Good luck and he V10 is a very reliable engine.

If you do the lift I assume you are going to add larger tires/wheels...if so...look for deeper gearing in the axles too...the V10 likes to remain in the 3.73 to 4.30 final drive range...so adding 35's you will need 4.56's and/or perhaps 4.88's depending on if you are going to tow or not...if so...with 35's...go 4.88's...while the final ratio would be about 4.40 or so...it would be much better for towing heavier...if that is what you are going to do...now if you are NOT going to tow...try and land in the 3.73 range when you account for tire diameter...just my opinion.

Joe.

X_Hemi_guy -- Sacramento, Up, in Northern Ca. I used to think this was a huge state, until I visited Tx.

tdappleman -- Arson. Someone poured gas on the truck, at 1:30am, in my driveway. If a neighbour had not gotten home from the club, and pounded on our front door, we would have most likely lost the house too.
It is still under investigation, and we do finally have a couple of leads on "who".
But still no idea on "why".

Welcome bro, and sorry about the '06.

My brother lives in Folsom and I have a couple friends up in that area too. One in Roseville and another in Sutter, and another in El Dorado Hills.

That is totally messed up. Glad you made it out and "only" lost the truck. Hope you get the b'tards.

I've read alot of opinions on changing gears with bigger tires. I have a 4x4 with 37" tires and tow 9500lbs. My question is: What about the gears in the transfer case. Will they match if you change just the rear end or do you have to chnge them too?

For a 4x4 you MUST change BOTH front and rear gears...that's why in general a 4x4 will cost you about 2x a 2wd gear change...not completely but close...
