I just bought my buddies SCT X3, I am wanting custom tunes, but I dont even know where to start....I keep hearing yall talk about this Matt guy (I think thats his name) and my buddy told me about a guy at "Innovative Diesel" named Eric, please give me info on who I should go with and why, and also how I can get a hold of them.
I, along with many on this site, went with Eric at innovative. I love his tunes plenty of power, and I think his trans shift points are spot on for me. I have heard alot of good about matts tunes over at gearheadperformance. I can't speak of them personaly as I have not run his tunes befor (yet anyways). I do plane to give them a try the next time I buy new tunes (probably this summer).
For Matt, the easiest way is to email him - matt@gearheadautomotiveperformance.com. I love the SRL++ tune. The website - gearheadautomotiveperformance.com has some good info too. I've never used Eric so don't know about that - he is at innovative diesel.

Do you have his email address so i can get more information from him?
I only know about Matt - $100 for 3 tunes - SRL or SRL++, 8k tow and unlimited tow. SRL is for unstudded trucks, SRL++ is for head studs only. He emails the files directly to you.
You'll need to use your x3 to read the strategy code from your truck and you might want to go to Ford for the latest flash - its $80, but then you won't need to worry about your tunes becoming worthless if the truck needs a reflash at some later date.
There is a recent long thread about Matt's tunes that will give you lots of different guys' experience with his different tunes.

Nothing will happen, but tunes are written for your specific strategy, so if it gets updated later, you will need new tunes.
The newer strategies (flashes) have some real benefits for the truck - I can't remember what they are, but if you search strategies and also Matt's tunes you'll find a bunch written about the merits of an updated flash. You really should read a lot first so you can make up your own mind though. Some say the latest flash kills mpg's.

I tried them all over the 6 years I've been tuning mine and I stayed with Eric...

Which programs are you running of Erics? I talked to him and he suggested the Xtreme street, street, and the tow tunes for me. He said with either of the two street tunes if I am light on the peddle then I can get just as good of MPG's as with an economy tune.....can you vouch for that?
