I have a new to me 2000 Ex. Twice in the past week, after leaving the door open for about 1/2 to 1 hour, the battery has drained. It jumped quickly and ran fine. I will get a new battery, but is there a chance I have another issue? The previous owner has wires running all over over the vehicle. Some are for an old alarm, but there even seem to be some video cables. It switches and buttons on the dash that don't seem to do anything. So before I ruin a new battery, should I check anything out?
Thanks.
A side note. I had the vehicle into the Ford dealer last week and the battery tested fine.
One question: You don't have an issue except when the dome lights were left on and draining power? If that is so, then the battery might be having an issue holding a charge. All I can say is that I've left my dome light on overnight and the Ex started fine the next day.
Thanks. That is what I was thinking and if were not for all the extra wires around, I probably would have just gotten a battery without checking further. Thanks again.
Try checking your cables, make sure they have a good, tight connection. The battery I had in my new to me 2000 failed the day after I brought it home from New Jersey.
I hada friend pick up a Optima Yellowtop battery, when we were going to swap it in, the cable on the positive post was finger loose.
Couldn't tell how old the old battery was, and I wanted a heavy duty battery in any case. But check your cables....
