That will work exactly the same way. All you've done is wire up a starter button that has totally bypassed the ignition switch.

The DuraSparkII system takes a que from the 'I' terminal of the starter solenoid to retard the timing during cranking in order to relive the load on the starter itself.
It also provides a full 12V to the ignition coil for a hotter spark.
This gets dropped back to 7.5V +/- while running to keep the coil cool through the use of a resistor wire in the harness.

Sounds like DSII is a lot better for my truck, then.

I can't say "better", but it has features that are very good, and it is robust and simple enough to understand.

The same idea but going forwards instead of going "backwards" like you.

Good link, saved it to my favorites.

Sometimes the easiest way to do that is check around some of the 4x4 groups around you. I got my Ford 8.8 with 3.73 gears from someone that upgraded to D60 axles. Only cost me $50 and bolted right in.

Mine has a 9", removable center carrier. Also just happen to have another center section with 3.25's already in it.
Besides, I'm 2wd. I'd like to find a matched pair of axles to go 4wd, but the ratio's are a bit more limited for me to stay with a 9". I just detest the stupid axle bearing design in the 8.8", and the fragile retainer bolt for the pinion gear center pin......
