i'm sure the seafoam works, there's so many guys on here that attest to it. I just have a hard time believing that. i mean how do you know that all the smoke is not generated from all the chemicals in the sea foam itself?
Because people are actually getting great results from it. Thats what seafoam is formulated to do?

Because of the end results that you can feel when you step on the throttle. Seafoam walks the walk, and talks the talk so to speak. It is one of the few "pour-in" chemicals that ACTUALLY works.
Take a part with some carbon deposits on it and pour some seafoam on it. You'll see. It dissolves it pretty quickly. I don't agree with putting it in the oil system, but I'm not going to tell anyone else not to.
Well, I just got done doing it... did it at work then drove home, didn't notice much other than smoother idle. MAYBE a little better TR... I think I may have given it too little into the line, it started to act a little bit like it was going to stall once but then it hummed right back up and carried on. I was really afraid to dump that extra bit at the end to completely stall it though... Hydro lock no thanks....
I also didn't see a WHOLE lot of smoke, don't get me wrong there was SOME but not nearly as much as I expected from my 153,XXX 351. I also ALWAYS run 93 octane, and ran Lucas religiously for about 3 months, so perhaps that was keeping it cleaned up a lil bit. Maybe I will do it again when this cold snap that is supposed to come tonight passes. This time I will have someone there to shut it off for me so I don't have to stall it and I can still get that extra little bit in at the end...
I dunno tho I think my E4OD is kinda bein a little bxtch! She doesn't like it so much when I hammer on it and make her downshift from 2nd to 1st kinda lets it slip a bit... Thinking I could use a ZF right about now...
Oh, and I was terrified the whole time I was doing it. I think its the method used that freaks me out... Its not like the 1/3 of the can I poured into my tank.... Why is it that I have NO problem putting something in my tank to burn.. but anything else gives me the panics.
Your worries are understandable. How long did you leave it turned off before you started it up and drove it?
Well, long enough to walk to the back of my truck open the camper, pull down the gate, slide my toolbox out, open it, get out my small ratchet set, walk back to the front of the truck, open the air filter box, take out the old filter, unscrew the bottom half from the truck pull it out, put in the new filter, reassemble the filter box, screw it back down, go back put my tools back, close the gate and the camper, walk back around make sure everything was in place, dilly dally with a few things, and then get in it and start it.......
So I coulda just said probably around 7 minutes...
I couldnt wait...i said earlier i would do it tmrw, but....5min after this mornings post, ran out and grabbed some seafoam! picked up some carb cleaner also. took the IAC apart, cleaned her all up, cleaned the egr as well and seafoamed! I let it sit for 20min and fired her up. Got some smoke alright, but not a whole lot. Am i ok to assume that it is all clean in there?? Only thing now is....my idling is higher! i was having idle problems to begin with, and figured todays work COULD help it. warm idle was at 1000, now its btween 1200-1500! wtf!? BUT i do have to say... response is ridiculously better.

Like I said I personally will not use anything less than 93 octane, and I ran Lucas fuel stabilizer religiously for about 3 months. Every tank got a full dose.
Can anyone answer why my RPM idles even higher now after seafoam? I cleaned out the IAC and EGR because I was having idling problems before seafoam. So I thought seafoaming might help out a little more to smooth out idle. It helped a lot in other aspects but now my rpm idles at 1200-1500 rpm?? why?
I won't profess to know anything, but my RPMs went up ever so slightly, I guess because its running smoother. I do believe that is one of the stated effects of the treatment. I remember seeing the spokesman on the video say that several times.
Maybe you have another issue that needs to be resolved and the seafoam just worked out some other kinks that brought another issue to surface?

I'm thinking TPS? Or my timing is too advanced? or EGR is still defected? O2 sensor? fuel injectors? fuel pressure regulator? I don't know, and it's driving me nutts!! Whats the device called that pulls codes? i don't have one and don't know anyone that does, but I NEED that or else I'm just spinning my damn wheels...
Thanks for the seafoam thread, I would've never known about it unless you posted it. TR is insane, motors even louder now, doesnt seem so sluggish.
