About to replace my manifold studs ( 2nd time!!)
and i was wondering if anybody had experience
with any after market etc. manifolds, or a place to
Get them less than $1000+. Or maybe a thicker
aftermarket gasket???????
while the manifolds are off! take them to a automotive machine shop and have them planned true. they warp in the center. not planning them will cause them to fail again latter.
also replace all the studs with the new harder stainless steel ones.
Cap is right, get them milled. If they even need it.
If you're using the stock manifold gaskets, I would make ABSOLUTELY SURE the machinist milling the manifolds knows that they are just plain sheet metal, and the finish on the manifold needs to be VERY smooth. A thin ring of red RTV on the manifold itself wouldn't hurt neither.
I saw some aftermarket 2V manifolds already however I never tried them. I have a set of 2V manifolds with 20k on them off of my 04' I'd part with. I put headers on around the 20k mile mark.
