Ok, I have read a post on TheDieselStop.com about a gentleman who switched out his radio to the NAV style. Has anybody here done this? The only thing I'm worried about is splicing in the microphone somehow? Everything else seems plug and play to me. I'm going to try and get PartsGuyEd to overnight the radio to me tomorrow for Saturday because the mother in law is coming in town and I need something to do. (If you know what I mean)
I think there has been a post on this a while ago and it was said that you need to have the radio programmed for your vehicle etc. Sounds like a ton of work if I remember right.
I pulled the trigger today and ordered a kit from partsguyed.com He said it would be here sometime early next week. I'm pumped up about installing this. The only thing, like I stated earlier, is having to add two wires to the harness and then splice them on the pasenger side kickpanel. Anybody ever added wires to a harness? Suggestions? Also has anybody taken apart the passenger kickpanel? Thanks
2500$ with everything needed for the swap. Harness, new steering wheel control and nav unit. Partsguyed.com hooked me up. They were very helpful as well.

No offense, but for $2500 you could have had the best in-dash nav with remote start and more installed for you.
Good luck on the install.
None taken. I just like the factory nav and everything that goes with it. I plan on doing a write up when I get done. I just hope splicing in the mic is easier
Than I think

fz1dave i agree. do not use scotch locks. the wiring harness we use, i see it all the time were people splice it and use scotch locks, or the heat shrink splicers(and never heat shrink them and just clamp them).
we always use the heat shrink with solder in it, (clamp it and shrink it). not failed us so far..
Ive had pioneer premier in dash and ive had factory. Ill take the factory any day. No more non factory navi vehicles.
The factory navi in my buddies 09 F250 is no where near as good as our hand held Garmins. He doesn't even use it anymore...has a Nuvi suction cupped to the windshield. Just sayin'
