yet another headlight question

I bought the 05 headlights today and for the life of me I've looked for a thread here that I saw some time back as to a trimming template. Does anyone have a thread saved?

Also, I need to know what other hardware I need to install these. Any tips you can provide would be greatly apprieciated!

Here is the thread about it, and page 5 has the outline on where to cut. I used this as my guide and it really helped. Cut, check, cut check, you will be supriesed how much has to come out. Dremmel makes it much easier. Good luck!

Thank you very much...Looks like my sawzall and I have a date soon.

Do you reuse the old hardware to attach the new lights?

TIA

No, they mount in differently. I did mine this summer and I bought slip on sheet metal nuts as the new light lights bolt in. Once you look at them it will make sense. You have to cut alot of the old header panel. Do it outside if you can as it makes alot of fiberglass dust.

Has anyone converted their sealed beam truck to this setup? If so, were there any additional parts needed? I want to do it, b/c thesealed beams are like two candles in front of the truck when I come home through the country at 2 am. I had 550 that had these headlights and I could see good with it at night

If replacing the header panel, then it would be just order an 05 panel then and the lights would plug right up? Certi-fit has them reasonable. My truck is just like yours except extended cab. Got it when construction equipment company went out of business that I worked for

I bought my lights from Certi-fit yesterday. Quality seems alright and you cant beat their prices. For about three hundred more bucks I could do the whole swap. Thats not going to happen this month!

With the new header panel the lights would work fine but nothing else would...or so I've read. ie grill, bumper.
