Keyless entry and start

Anyone ever use something like this?
Keyless Push button Ignition system from Digital Guard Dawg

I'm wondering because my key cylinder has no definite stops when turning, no clicks or anything to tell you what position it is in. Maybe something's broke or maybe that's how it was made. Either way I feel like I'm going to break something each time I turn the key to start.

I drove a Cadillac XLR with this sort of system where the doors unlock when you walk up to the car and you just push a button once you get in. I thought it was really cool. Maybe that's just my fascination with technology showing.

Easier for someone to steal the vehicle? Don't know, don't really care too much either as I would plan on mounting the button hidden somewhere.

Thoughts? Comments?

I dont think it would make it any easier to start the truck, probably even more difficult. I am always turned off with things spelled funny like dawg... I do like the design of their pushbutton though. Seems like you could just replace whatever is broken on yours cheaper than this whole system though.

Sounds like you need a new ignition switch (bolted to the steering column under the dash).

Well it's not like I think starting it is hard by any means. I just don't much care for the key cylinder. I could replace it, but if I did I would rather do something different. As it is I don't even know if anything is broken.

This system would unlock the doors as you walk up to the vehicle and all you have to do to start it is press the brake pedal and push the button.

I'm with you on the "Dawg" part. As a graphic designer I see all sorts of problems with their corporate image, but after working in the field I've learned that while image definitely shapes how people perceive the company and it's products, it doesn't actually reflect the products at all.

I think it'd be pretty cool. I have no reason to do it myself, but I could see doing it just for the convenience if I had the extra money sitting around. If it was part of an alarm package, that'd be even better.

That's like the new toyotas.. works really well on theirs, only issue is there were times when we first got the car, that one person would be driving, that wasn't necessarily the person with the key.. and then if they got out of the car, the driver would be stuck without a key and no way to turn the car back on once it turned off..
I can't see this being as big of an issue on a truck, as usually that's not the family car, but with our toyota, which is the family car because of mpg's vs. me and my dads truck, there were several times where my mom would call because she had dropped me or my dad off and was now stuck without the key.

On a new car that starts up easy, I'd love it.. but with my truck atleast, I really like the feeling and sound of turning the key and hearing it fire up.
putting your own Push button start wouldn't be too difficult by itself either I'd imagine. Other than the theft issues.. I have a friend that has a mustang he built from frame up pretty much and he has a push button start that works great as far as I can tell.
You could always hide a secondary button that has to also be held down while your starting it, say like tap in a steering wheel volume control or cruise control button wire... That would atleast slow the thiefs down a bit..
