B2 questions...

Trying to decide on B2 or full size bronco for annual trips to colo and camping so i need more info... would like to get ok mpgs but have some off road capabilities...

what will a 84 4x4 2.8L v6 get for mpgs?

How is the 4x4 setup compaired to the f150-f250's I have? TTB?

Do b2's have a solid rear axle? if so what is it??? ford8.8?

How are off road capabilities in near stock form???? And maybe w/ 2-4in lift and bigger tires?

In order:

In good tune, about 26mpg on the highway........expect less, and no V8 power either.

A Dana 28 TTB.

a 7.5 rear axle, probably 3.73 rear end gears.

Offroad is its strongest point, they will go just about anywhere.

Either one in good shape do well. But the 84 is not as good a choice as a 90 would be. The 84 2.8 was a higher rpm engine with an electronic carburator. The fuel injected 2.9 had more low end torque would do better in the Colorado mountians. Some pics of my old 89 BII are at: New Page 0 and New Page 0 My old 84 BII (with a 302 v-8 carbed) New Page 0 And of my old 96 full size Bronco that I bought from my friend after this trip: New Page 0

Where in Colorado do you go? What trails do you intend to drive it over?

My '89 BII got 18 mpg consistently - to the point it wasn't necessary to check it anymore. If there was a strong head or crosswind, forget mileage and power though. I occasionally pulled a homebuilt 4x8 trailer, heavier than factory built ones, and it still got 18 mpg. I really liked driving it, but it needed a bit more power. Only gave it up when a drunk driver hit me head-on at 35 mph in Ames after the Texas/ISU football game 3 years ago. BII was totaled, but his full size extended cab Silverado didn't fare any better!
