Last Friday we were loading the wheelers up on the gooseneck for a ride. I was going to pull it with my truck. It had 2 atvs on it, a ranger, and my rhino. After hooking up and lowering down, my truck was sitting on the ground. Now I know its a '99 and there is some sag in the springs. So my buddy said he would pull it, no problem. He has and '03 7.3 4WD 4 door. didn't even squat his truck, no lift, no extra springs, nothing! Only thing I noticed from walking around was it seems he had and overload spring on top? Anyway just wanted some info, may have to look into a small lift to get her back up where she needs to be. Thanks in advance!
Jason,
I don't have any information for you but i do have a good set of stock springs off my 2003..don't even know if they will fit or how to get them to you...they are here if you need or can use them
I could understand your truck squatting if you were using a bumper pull trailer, but for it to squat that much pulling a gooseneck just doesnt seem right. I have pulled 2 jeeps with lift kits and didn't squat at all
I have a '99 with the overload springs and even with a 5th wheel hooked up it would only contact the overload springs if I hit a bump or dip. I did have the 4" blocks at that time (E99). You need some new springs. The '03 springs will fit.
My '00 has a similar spring issue. Put a load of concrete in and it squats a bunch. My brother-in-law puts the same load in his '00 Dodge 2500 and hardly any squat at all. Then I get to listen to him run his mouth. Any ideas on price for a new set of rear springs?
i may have a broken spring, but the truck sits level. the bed is a little off though, just figured it was were the previous owner put the hitch in and did not put a washer back where it needs to be or something.
