Differential I.D. Problems

Hey all,

I'm wondering if I can get a little help, I'm having a hell of a time finding the specs on my differentials. I think I've got the front narrowed down to a standard differential with a 3.07 ratio. I can't find much of anything on the rear other than a picture to match it to. It looks like an 8.8 it's definitely not a 9".

I've included some pictures below, can you guys help me identify these damn things? I'm going to order a couple of Aussie Lockers and I want to make sure I have all the relevant information.

Front Tag
07 E3TA TC
610198-10

Picture of Front Diff

Picture of Rear Tag
I had to do some manipulating in gimp but I think it's readable now.

Picture of Rear Diff

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Eric

8.8 w/3.08 ratio rear diff.
Under/near the bolt, you should see a 3, then the 08 8 8 refers to 3.08 8.8".

Not sure if it matter, but it's an 84 Ford.
Here's a link to the sticker on the door jam.

Front axle is a D44, with 3.07 open gears, rear is 8.8" with 3.08 open. At least, that's what the tags say...... Also just happens to be what most 84 F150 4x4's were equipped with.....

Thanks for the help, that should get me going. I'm pretty excited to see what kind of a difference a couple of Aussie's will make.

Is it just me or from the picture of the front Diff does it look like it doesn't come apart on that side. I see the bolts but it doesn't look like a cover the way the Rear diff does. Or maybe it's on the other side or just completely covered with grease. It's too damn cold to crawl under there right now and inspect it the way I need to.

Also, and maybe this is stupid, but I see the front is a Dana 44, So the rear is a Ford 8.8? I guess I would have assumed they would be the same.

Ok, it looks like that is the actual name of the Rear Diff. I wasn't sure. I found this:

FORD 8.8-INCH
The 8.8-inch debuted in 1983 Broncos and F-150s, and is now found also in 4.0-liter Rangers and Explorers/Navajos. It is easily distinguished from a 9-inch by having a cover on the back.

To take it apart you have to pull the driver's side axle stub out and disconnect the passenger side axle at the slip joint. The inner axle shaft is clipped inside the differential. Then you unbolt the differential from the axle housing and it comes out the back side.

Nope, they aren't. You have the names right though.
