Question more bottom end

hey i was wondering what i can do for more power for in my '96 F-150 5.0 5spd 4x4 3.55LS... i have a Helix TBS, shorty headers, and a K&N intake... i want heads but dont know what 2 get i herd that '87 heads give more bottom end b/c they have bigger ports and longer valves did anyone else hear that to is it true or should i use GT40's and what kind of rockers??? is there any good programmers for my truck out there??? if anyone can help me thanks!!

The amount of power gained is all going to be relative to the amount of money you are willing to spend... anything from a set of heads, roller rockers and a mild cam, up to a stroker kit in the bottom end. What kind of money range are you wanting to stay in is probably the first question to ask?

Also, it doesn't matter how long the valves are, as the cam is what controls the amount of lift the valve sees.

There is no magic combo that will produce big TQ from the 5.0.. at least not enough to move a heavy truck with authority, so you may as well resign yourself to adding more axle gearing to utilize the powerband where this motor does well(2500-5000rpm), or swap in a larger motor.

if you wanna buy heads get the new gt40x aluminum heads by ford racing, bolt on 65hp and i think a gain of like 75tq, dont take my word on the tq measure.
