CPS??.......UVCH??

Ok my truck is acting kinda wierd. I just replaced my starter and my CPS. No the problem I am getting is sparatic and starting to get worse.

When Im driving down the road it runs just fine and all is well most of the time the it will act like it misses for a split second and thats it. And sometimes when its idle at a stop it will just die,....but it starts right back up and runs fine. It started right after I changed my CPS so it leads me to believe that that may be my problem. It is getting to be more often, it happened three times on the way home today in about a 10 mile drive and the CEL came on this time. When I got home I shut it off and started it back up and the CEL is not on now. I dont have an AE so I cant scan it. But what I do have is a nice new Black CPS from Clay that im goin to install today.

My question is do you guys think it is my CPS? Or do you think it could be something else like my UVCH? I havent been under my valve covers yet to check 'em. Im also gona check my fuel filters but they are both brand new and I have the intank mods with a pre-pump filter outside the tank.

Thanks for any help.

Yep when its running its seems to be running just fine no difference at all. Just the occational stutter.

Change out the CPS to the black one so hopefully that was the issue. Guess ill find out soon enough. Checked the fuel filters and they look just fine, (really doubted that was the prob anyway).

Thanks for the help. Hopefully I dont have to post back on this!

See if you can your fault codes read... it will tell where the problem is.. ( must use a scanner compatible to our 7.3L engine..)

If you do not have any fault codes, consider this:
Disconnect the ICP sensor and see if the problem continues.
I recently experienced something similar and finally had a full failure of the ICP sensor.
Disconnecting the sensor does no harm as the PCM defaults to a predetermined setting - I just would not do any serious towing during that time.

Good luck,
