Drip, Drip, Drip, Drip.....

My rear fuel tank has sprung a leak. After pulling the skid plate on the side was leaking you can see where the previous owner had tried to repair it at one point, but now its leaking again.

Anyways, I've decided rather then patching the tank I want to just replace it.

Any recommendations on whose tank to get, any differnce between the gasser tanks and the diesel tanks? (I know the sending unit is not the same because of our engine mounted fuel pump)

Also do I need to pull the bed to remove the tank? it looks like I can just drop it, but I figured I would ask before I do something stupid and expensive...

Thanks.

I think they are interchangable but do not quote me on it, the biggest issue you will have is size of tank, apparently our tanks differ slightly depending on wheel base, hope someone can come in on this.

mine came out the bottom just fine, if I remember the skid pans were 2 pieces, left and right; well thats the only thing keeping the tank up there, remove both and you will have an angry tank coming down at you.

Thanks.

Coming down and pulling the bed are about equally easy options. If I were getting a new tank I'd get a38 gallon replacement

I think that was a bronco tank or something, cant remember. If mine was to leak I would consider upsizing the tank like you said, although it would take a little fabricating it would be easy. I think my biggest hurddle though would be convincing myself moving my spare tire from under the rear tank up into the box. I like the open box minus my tool chest.
