Got 06 with 150,000 and between 40 to 55 mph it surges but its fine at any other speed. Ive got 70hp injectors about yr ago, egr just cleaned, oil and fuel changed about 3,000 miles ago. im lost as to what to do now without just replacing stuff and wasting money. There is no codes that have came up. I was thinking stiction but it never goes away even when up to temp. Its also running high boost just cruising about 12psi doing 70. Could this be a sticking turbo vanes causing this?
FWIW--40-55 is kind of a "no mans land" on a 6.0. Trans is in higher gear, truck is lugging (which, IMHO, a 6.0 HATES).
Cleaning the turbo would be the first thing to try. 12psi@70mph sounds a bit high to me, but it is a dually and a bit heavier truck. What were you running boost wise "before" your problem? How does your truck warm up from a cold start? Can you start it and immediately drive it or does it have to warm up first? What kind of oil are you running?
I Dont have a choice ive got to run that for about 5 miles to and from work everyday. It ran high since i bought then i put the injectors in and it went down to about 4-5psi and then it got colder and went up. When its cold i cycle the gps 3 time and it takes about 5-6 secs to start and then its rough for about 10 secs and smooths out. Im running 5 - 40w rotella. Also i noticed that when its up to temp and i put in park it sounds like it doesnt fire a cylinder every so often it doesnt shake or anything i can just hear it skipped one and its random
well my gauges will be here tom. so i guess when im installing them ill go through connections and maybe pull the turbo and give it a cleaning has anyone ever put a egt probe in the up pipe to get a average temp of both banks since the turbo will be off anyways or easy access?
