annoying window problem

on my 77 f150 the drivers side window likes to roll itself down 1-2" randomly and you can't actually crank the window up all the way close but not quite have to push/pull the window up the rest of the way. How do i go about fixing this? New window regulator? Window off the track and i just not know it? Never had to deal with this problem before.

The teeth on the regulator must have become "un-synchronized" for a lack of a better term.

The door is pretty easy to take apart once you pull the inner door panel. You should be able to see what is going once the panel is removed.

The gears in the regulator ( crank ) are stripped and the slack plus the weight of the window causes the regulator to " sag ". Last time I checked, Dennis Carpenter had replacements for 100 dollars each. I got lucky recently and bought a pair of doors for 75. Each door had a recent replacement. Good luck, you may find some
