I'm currently restoring a 73 f250 long box and wondering if there is a place where I could buy the factory box. I am also curious if anybody stuck one of these in themselves. I imaging its just cutting the hole and sticking it in. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated thanks.
It was a tire storage box? I thought they where a tool storage box. I learn something every day. I have had my dentside for only 3 months now. I have seen the camper specials with them online and just figured it was for tolls
It is a toolbox they are becoming few and far between, atleast in my area.
I have been looking for one myself for awhile now, I think D.C might sell the door and u can get the weather stripping from most supplier's, however the "sill" or frame is hard to come by. A junkyard is about your only option, there is a couple guys on here that have one or two kickin around if you talk real nice they might sell you one to graft in. If you find someone that sells one new PLEASE pm me! Good luck in your search!
i n a way, your both right. the f250s had optional bed monted tool boxes, the f3502wd regular cabs and super camper specials had a spare mounted in the bedside but behind a much bigger removeable panel. hope this helps the confusion
Dennis Carpenter, they are all about dents. I was offered a used one, look up one of my older posts, "treasure chest" and see who it was and pm him and see if he still has it.
look on car-parts .com and this a salvage finder and i have located good beds from 200 on up only 145 miles away.the one in edmond oklahoma has beds and bed sides and the lady down there said she would cut them where ever u want and ship them to ya ,im going to get a bed side as soon as moma says its ok
Thanks guys for clearing that up. I'm gonna have to keep my eye out for them when I go 'yarding.
D.C. = Dennis Carpenter (Restoration Parts). They have lots of the original Ford tooling for these dents and produce excellent quality reproduction parts.
To help out with the ID issue the first pic is a SCS (Super Camper Special) behind big compartment is storage for spare tire. 2nd pic is factory bed side tool box, no tire will fit n there, lol. Unless you run a donut spare='s stupid. IMO
I do not know of any aftermarket companies that sale factory looking tool box compartment and bed side doors out there. JY?? and some body work?
Here is an idea (3 rd pic) if you find 2, I am a thinking .......found the thread/idea and pic on here some where, some time ago???
