Front bumper torque specs...

Does anyone know the factory torque specs for the four 18mm bolts that hold on the front bumper?
Ever since I had a Ranchhand grill guard installed, the front bumper dropped on one side, I have straightened it out twice so far. I tightened the %$@# out of the bolts with a breaker bar, And after a short drive Its crooked again .......

I dont want to strip the bolts, or snap one off.

Hmmmmm, not sure on the torque specs but a little blue loctite should help keep them tight.

I would suggest that you get some washers (3 or 4 each bolt should do) and put them on the back side of the bolt, under the factory nut setup. This will allow you to use more of the thread to create tension on the bolt. Might be time to swap out for some Grade 8 bolts though.

Got the factory manual right here. But doesn't list them, it has a generic torque spec by bold diameter, not head size. What is the major diameter of the threads?

I have the same set-up you do. I have had the gaurd and bumper off twice and haven't had any problem keeping the bumper straight. I use a floor-jack with a block of 4x4 centered at the lowest bar of the gaurd and tighten up everything damn tight.

Is yours tipping forward as one piece? or dropping side to side? Double check the brace bracket behind the bumper that angle out toward the curve of the bumper. Check them at both ends for tightness.

I keep bumping into stuff, pushing trucks and equipment that doesn't work. As soon as I straighten it, it gets crooked again.

I too have the same set up and have never had this happen. Did you install the Guard yourself? And if not, I'm wondering if the installer left something out when he put it back together. There's only the 4 bolts, 2 on either side, of the bumper that hold it in place. Behind that is a backing plate with the nuts attached to it. But that being said, there are few brackets in the back of the bumper that might be loose as well. Maybe crawl under there, and double check that all the brackets are in place.
Omit this if you did the install yourself.

Get them gorilla tight and then add a flange nut to the back to try to lock them tight. They are very accessible from the back side.

Give me the Ranch Hand Grille Guard and put it back together nice and tight and lets see if that works. If you don't want to go that route I would do what Robin suggested first.

I had it installed at Ranchhand. I just left lowes with some lockwashers and red loctite. Hopefully this will do the trick. It's getting very irritating. Thanks for the suggestions. I may be trying all of them.

If you have all the OE parts you shouldn't need any liquid anything or lock washer anything.

I still have OE bolts...I'll have to see if the OE cage nuts are still behind the bumper.
