Question Build a truck!

OK, I go to www.ford.com and build my F350, SC, SRW, 6.2, 4X4, plus other items.

At the end I get the MSRP + shippng Do I expect the dealer to beat this price

On the other-hand I am getting cold feet with all the talk of $4 - $5 per gal gas!

Thanks folks, this is truly an informative site!

No, if you order your truck, there is little haggling them down. I,ve heard the gas price rumors too, and think i'm glad i picked up my 7.3 last year.

If gas goes to $5 a gallon, diesel will be $5.50.

We still get more than our money's worth out of that 30-50 cents more per gallon.

Yup, you might be money ahead to shop hard for a decent 7.3, even if it takes more money to get her how you like it. For what a 2011 costs, you can do a lot of upgrading and rebuilding.

I think diesel will stay down, IMO. Can't explain it, but I don't think it will go up to $5 a gallon. If Diesel goes up, say hi to our old friend High inflation.....

diesel will rise with the price of gas as it has in the past 5 year...diesel will go up because the price of oil will go up, not strictly because of inflation

if diesel goes to $5.50 expect to be charged a LOT more for shipping. Everything we use will be a lot more expensive, not just fuel.
think about the truckers who are lucky to get 6 mpg.

You should be able to get a lot off of the MSRP in Price. The way I negotiate is to Build your truck on Fords site like you have done - Print out the options, truck info at the end.... Then go to Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book ( it seems that one didn't have invoice - But Build the truck on their site.. I should show you similar (or Exact) MSRP & Invoice. Then do research Here & online for Ford Rebates/Incentives (they change every month or so..).

You Should be able to talk your dealer to Invoice plus rebates - In other words:
MSRP - $50,000
Invoice - $46,000
Rebate or the Month - $1,000
Incentive - 2 years Oil change service

Walkout - $45,000 + Tax/Title/Licence & The 2 yr service package

The above is a hypothetical deal - But look around & get all the info you can & you will save yourself some money. IF the dealer won't give you this kind of deal - walk away..

Of course my buddy just told his wife to go buy a car - He didn't want to deal with it - He told her NOT to pay MSRP.. She came home happy that she got $500 off MSRP ( HE wasn't real happy - But he was the one who said he didn't want to fool with it -LOL)

I hope gas goes over $5 a gallon. Nothing against anyone in particular or anything I just feel this country needs a reset and something that would cause an actual depression (not like this last little recession or whatever they are calling it) like extreme high gas prices just may do it.

you realize that means YOU most likely also will not be working. but it might not matter, cause there won't be much to buy, and what there is will be so pricey few will be able to afford it.

but back to to truck price.. if you are a member of any of the qualifying organizations, then you can get the no-haggle X-Plan price- minus any current discounts. XPlan is $100? above dealer invoice. Its a documented price.

Bad part is that in this Global economy, a rise like that would not only put us in recession again, but many other countries as well. Jobless rates would double in short order. In short, $5 / gallon could be catastrophic for the world. The a-holes that have control of the oil have control of the world by the proverbial sack.

I vote government control of oil........ at least prices would get stable. IMO.

What this country and the rest of the world needs is cheaper energy. Coal powered, Natural gas, and nuclear powered electrical generation is the cheapest. (excluding the SUN because we can't make enough and or produce it fast.) Wind power can't make enough, unless all you want to see out your windows is the giant windmills. Bio-fuels cannot be produced in enough quantity. Even if we turn all the corn into ethanol, and soy to diesel, still couldn't sustain the country without crude oil. (Also, if we used all the corn and soybeans, how much do you think a box of corn flakes would cost? Think of all the stuff made with corn and soybeans)

yeh.. part of the problem with some alternative fuel is the getting there..

you can't just take 150million cars off the road overnight. and u can't just come up with ability to create fuel and distribute it overnight either.
and as u note there are side effects..

my hobby is customizing 50-60yr old vehicles. so this migration to new, non-oil based fuels will take a significant amount of time..

Last time gas was north of 4 dollars Expeditions and SDs were cheap, I'm going to order a new truck in March, but I'm thinking that I might pick up one off of the load cheaper than X-plan if gas is 4.50
