Even with the rust, mileage, an being a base XL i'm likin the $1500.00 i gave for my 96 about a year ago now. The guy couldn't sell it since it was a 5spd.
Heh, never understood that. I won't buy anything with an automatic.
If I could get a Bronco with an EFI 5.8 and a manual I would do it in a heartbeat. I will not buy one with a 302. Since the 302 and 300 only come with the crappy M5OD I would rather buy one with a 5.8 and E4OD and drop in a ZF when it fails. Then I end up with exactly what I want.
I will take a manual over an automatic every day.
I'm going to look at the 1991 this weekend and if it's what I want I will pull the trigger.
Had any luck, Andy? Remember, you can always swap a ZF behind a 300 if you find one. they are the same length as the M5 so you don't even need to change DS lengths.
I've decided to put off the search for a little bit. Waiting for gas prices to go back up again and score a good deal that way. Plus I have some unexpected bills to pay for a couple months so it's not a great time financially to do it.
One thing is for sure... I will own a Bronco again in the near future. I miss that old beast.
I just bought my '91 this June. Paid $1500 for it. Has some hail damage, some rust and a few battle scars from a fence. Have seen nicer ones go for $3000 off the lots around here. Mine came with a 4" lift and the 32" rubber. Engine ran but tranny was going. I've put alot of work into it since, Rebuilt engine, 9" rear, M5OD trans.( soon to be zf) All parts salvaged from my totaled '89. Would've loved a cherry, but checkbook said no way! My ford broncos are my most expensive hobby right now, yes I have several :P
Good luck with your search, the good ones are getting harder and more expensive to find. I happens to all the classics.
