Wes, do you have a fuel pressure guage? Did it act up before it failed or did it just crap out.
duncan, sorry took so long we got real busy here it snowed!! doesent happen much on the coast we got 6 in. second time it has snowed here in 6 1/2 years since ive been here ! us body shop guys are the only ones out there that like black ice . as long as no one gets hurt . any way no notice except mabey about 75 miles worth i noticed would not rev above 2000 rpms . i got a manual 6 speed so i just shifted to higher gear i was 150 mi from home filled tank tried to drive home got about 30 mi dead would not run over 1300 rpms . had to stop and call my tow truck driver to come get me . got pressure gauge put on o pressure pulled filter cover almost empty checked fuse relay good pulled pump put jump box striaght to conn. after sevaral times touching the lugs with batt voltage pump bumped a couple of times it was toast! pulled tank mixer valve screens were fully cloged . doing in tank mods and i just got my pump from clay it is exzactly the same pump as factory same part# made in germany ect.. ive now figured out this truck has for last four miles, in and out of shop and one test drive down the street been running on what fuel was in the rails . but it sounded like a rod was gonna come thru the block . hopefully all will be ok when i get back together. thanks wes

That knocking is air in the fuel lines and rails and not enough fuel to the injectors. Cycle the fuel pump several times before starting. That will help purge the air out of the fuel lines and rails.
I have had several Bosch go bad on my truck. I have not had a failure with the Airtex E2236. I recently purchased a spare Airtek to keep in my truck like many of you do a spare cps.
Less than 60K. Do bear in mind i run my truck on vo (my fuel), perhaps Bosch cannot handle it.
That also says alot for the durability/capability of the Airtex E2236.
