1986 ranger, 400 cubes???????
How is everyone doin????? Well, my friend and I were sitting around in my garage and all of the sudden he starts asking about the '79 400 block I have sitting on my engine stand. So I tell him that it's his if he wants it. He has a 1986 Ranger and was really starting to get serious about putting it in the ranger. I've seen some pics of rangers with big blocks. So I was wondering, for him, what all would have to be done. So far I've figured: 9" rearend, custom driveshaft, C-6, Stronger front suspension, Pushed back firewall............................What else???????????? Thanks!!!!!!

Although I've never done any MAJOR swaps like the one you're talking about, I strongly suspect that he's asking for LOTS MORE TROUBLE than it's worth, putting a motor THAT BIG in a Ranger. A beefy 302 would be MORE THAN ENOUGH! Even if he succeeded in "shoe-horning" that monster in there, he'd have to change almost EVERYTHING to handle that amount of extra HP & torque. Maybe someone esle has done this though???

Yeah, I've seen websites where ppl have taken rangers and stuffed in big blocks. I just saw a site where a guy put in a 429 that was bored and stroked up to a little over 500 cubic inches. My friend is really into this project. It has some meaning to him. He really wants to spend his money. If I were him, I'd rather have a truck like mine, with a 429 instead of my weak 300 LOL.
