2011 Engine/tranny flash

Well, I called to check my local dealers appointment availability. They know me from previous work done to my 150's. I have never bought from them because they can't come close to prices of nearby dealers.

Anyhow, I called to make an appointment, and they first asked, where did you buy the truck from. I asked why it should matter, if I just want to make an appointment. He said he needed to know, because he needed to check vin number for recalls. I told him that it was not a recall, but it had been suggested to reflash the computer. He insisted that he could not flash the truck without a recall, and I simply could not accept that answer, so I requested an appointment anyways. He said they were very backed up, and it would be 30-60 days before they coud fit me in, and I should call back later.

That being said, how do I explain the flashing in a way they know what I want done to my 2011? Is it true I need to prove a recall to get it done? Is the flash something that is normally done for free?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Al

Al,

I assume since you said engine/tranny reflash you are driving the 6.7..

If It hadn't been flashed you can tell but putting in gear press the "+" sign so that the gears illuminate. Then put in park - even restart if you want & then put back in gear - the gears should be illuminated. If lit then you have the latest flash.

If they arn't then there is a tech note - searching here you should find it's number... That will work with a dealer - although yours seems a little sorry - try another one.. if possible...

usually these things are TSB's. If you have the 6.7 then check the tech folder for some helpful info:

There's a TSB for the 6.2 for sure. Some of us have had it done. It helps a lot.

All you need to tell them is you have abrupt shifting. The first thing they are gonna do, or at least should do, is check for any info on that problem. The TSB should pop right up.

The whole "If you didn't buy it here" spiel is just a crock of .
