I own a 1997 F350 Xl 7.3 with 210000, and I'm not exactly sure what my problem is, but here are the symptoms: when I let off the gas pedal and let the truck coast it feels like it starts to slow down itself and it's a fairly rapid. My dad seems to think it's the torque converter going.

Drew, when you take your foot off the go peddle and coast the PCM stops fueling the injectors .. ever notice how quiet it gets when coasting? With high compression diesel engines and no bang they do slow down rather fast, faster than gas engines. Without driving your truck it is hard to compare so you may or may not have an issue.
Did this just start and you know it's not normal or is the truck new to you?
try unplugging the ebpv its under the orange boot going to the turbo and see if that helps, everytime i let off the throttle in my truck it seemed like i had a foot on the brake, does make a pretty noticeable air woooshing sound, unplugged it and truck went back to normal
Thanks for the feed back good ideas I didn't think of, it's done this since I've owned the truck since the beginnin of September, and I will try unplugging the ebpv when I put the front clip back together I have the grille, header panel, etc out kuz it's an Xl and swapped for the xlt chrome

sorry it took so long to reply to this thread still working out how to work the site and such, finally unplugged my epbv valve and the noise went AWAY WOOOHOOO!!! but sadly i broke the plastic clip ( what do i do to replace that if i ever plan on that) but i noticed my truck warmed up really quick hit the O in normal faster than it normally does or its just my mind playing tricks, just worries me a little kuz everyone says when it works it helps warm the truck up faster...
It's not dragging but now it feels like it is my TC slowsmy truck a bit, but for the warmer engine I think it does get warmer. I only have the stock gauges. It gets close to the M but never past it, and before I unplugged it I would have to drive fer a long time, has ne one noticed this when they unplugged it?
