Im considering changing the engine on my 73 f250. It has a 360 with c6 auto tranny i believe. I want to put in another engine so i can slowly build up the one i have and still drive the truck. Im looking for something that will take the least amount of modification to install and easy to find.
Any input would be great
352's,360's, and 390's are probably some of the most common motors for our trucks. You probably won't run across more except maybe a 302. Just swap a 3?? For your 360.
For the least amount of modification stay within the FE family, You can add a 390 crank and rods to make it a 390 or a 428 crank to make it a 410. Either one is a good option but the 410 would pack more punch on the street, with the longer stroke you'll feel more bottom end torque.
I would leave the 360 in the truck if it still runs and find another 360 or 390 and build that up. That's what I'm doing. I picked up 2 390,s for $100 each on craiglist. Call local yards near me a running 360/390 goes for about $400 complete. Just my 2 cents.
