I have a '56 F600, I am looking to make it a 4x4 and by some awesome miracle I seem to have found a front axle with the same gear ratio off a '73 f600.
It looks like it has the same bolt pattern as my truck, but I have no idea if it actually does. I know smaller trucks but these bigger ones I have no idea when or even if things changed. It looks like there might have been several options, I'm seeing an '86 that looks the same but an '83 that has wheels very different...so...?
I have 6 bolt wheels, but beyond that I haven't come across any information on what the bolt pattern is and anything to compare it to. Up to '79 it seemed Ford did a lot of stuff the same for a long time (like the step side beds), and it looks promising, but if the bolt pattern doesn't match up, it's not going to do me any good.
Also, any idea on driveshafts? Are the yokes the same or did they change those too? (I happen to have an extra one off my truck as it had two and when I shortened it it worked out so perfect nothing had to be cut, just removed)
And boy do I wish I found HeavyTruckParts.net a lot sooner.
Your bolt pattern is 6x8.75"- 6 lugs on an 8.75" circle. Ford used it for many years and I believe the little Japanese box vans still use it. I have seen 20" lock ring rims with that bolt pattern in 6" and 7" widths and 22.5" tubeless rims in 6" and 7" widths.
