I searched the forum before I posted and only found 1 thread. They talked about the problem and not much about what the official fix was.
I am loosing fuel coolant. Have to add to it about every 500 miles or so. There are no sign of leaks. I took it to the dealership and they said it was fine. But I'm still loosing coolant.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so what was the fix?
Truck is a 2008 F350 6.4, 4x4 with about 102000 miles on it.
Thanks

Reason: Left out equipment
fuel coolant? are you losing fuel, or engine coolant?
to stop loosing fuel, you have to stop driving it
how much coolant are you loosing in 500 miles? Like is it down only a little bit, or a considerable amount (1/4 gallon or more)? If it is only a tiny bit, that could simply be atmospheric pressure causing a difference, but if it's alot then you have a serious problem. However, if the system pressure checks okay, then the only thing I can figure is it is evaporating off or you are over-filling it and it is creating too much pressure and bubbling out.
Otherwise, check your oil and trans fluid to see if either of those are contaminated.
My 7.3 water pump leaked, but only when the engine was warm. Rarely did coolant ever hit the driveway. It was all blown back while driving. Have you been under your truck lately?
I've been under my truck a lot lately trying to find the leak. I am only loosing a little bit over 500 miles, say a 1 cup or so, not sure about the exact measurement. As far as filling I've been filling it to the top of the glass bulb on the fuel coolant system. After going about 500 miles the level drops below the bottom of the glass bulb on the fuel coolant reservoir where the cap and bulb is for checking the fluid level. I just don't think I should have to jump under the hood of my truck every 500 miles to check it.
The fuel coolant also cools the electronics for the turbo. That is according my ford dealer here in town.
Yes it cools the turbo as well. The routing of the coolant into the cooler can be found in the tech folder. I beleive it gets the coolant from the EGR cooler, don't quote me though.
