Re in"Car"nation High Performance Heads

I'm rebuilding my 460. I talked to Scott a few days ago about picking up some ported heads and he said he has some new heads out. He said they are the *****!! Does anyone have any experience with them?

Do not know but there is another site you might wabt to check. I personnaly have not tried these heads but I heard some good things, for302 heads anyway.

Tri-State Cylinder Head - Chevy, Ford, Small Block, Performance, Aluminum Cylinder Heads

If you are interested in getting your current heads ported why not do it yourself. I did mine summer before last and it was not hard (first time)- time consuming yes but fun. Actually once you started it is very relaxing to do. Just don't go crazy, match the intake to heads (not gasket) and smooth out the exhaust for beter flow. Lot of information on porting.

What I can tell you Scott is the MAN when it comes to Heads. So I'm betting they are just what he says the are. He has an very good reputation on this forum, those of us that have been here for years know him.

There was this thread earlier this year: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ust-ports.html

Scotty's dyno figures back up his claims. You don't get into the Engine Masters on BS.

Scott knows what he's doing when it comes to working 460 heads.

He spends countless hours on forums helping people out and answering the same questions over and over instead of saying "search". I would buy his heads based on his rep, customer feedback, and supporting a guy who supports the 460 crowd.

I actually talked to him again Wednesday. After talking to him I ordered a set of his large valve ported heads and cam set. Now I just have to get him my cores and distributor and wait a MONTH!!!!!!!!! Knowing many folks have had good experiences with him made it a lot easier.

If the heads don't come as a complete ready to bolt on assembly then they probably aren't worth it. They are an iron head too, so resale would be a concern with them as well. By the time you would buy all the new hardware and have them all machined with a good valve and seat job with a mild port and polish you probably could be into a decent set of aluminum heads for just a little more, maybe less if you look around some. I just got a set of D3's back from the machine shop with a $300 dollar tag on them and all I had them do was put new bronze guide liners in, mill them and spotface the head bolt holes.

Scottys iron heads are very good but his flow bench #s are rather inflated. He built his flow bench from plywood and a shop vac.

I guess it all depends on what youre doing and how much you have to spend.

Show us your flow bench. Show me your dyno results with the heads you have reworked. I hear a lot of Talk.
CaptinIPSC,
Scott builds good quality heads; if you can afford it get him to build you a pair of aluminum heads.

Bill we talked quite awhile about what I had, how I used my pickup etc.... His suggestion was the large valve ported DOVE heads. I have seen many people specify certain things in their build that ties the hands of the guy you're trying to deal with. He decided what he felt I needed based on the answers I gave him. I've had real good luck following the advice of the guys in the know and I feel confident that all will turn out good.
