I have a 93 f250 460 with 126,000 miles on it. it developed a miss a couple days ago but its really only noticeable at an idle since it shakes the truck but if u give it a little gas it smoothes out but u can still hear the miss. I changed all the plugs, wires, cap and rotor and no difference. The plugs i pulled out in cylinders 7 and 2 had alot of burnt oil deposits on them the rest of the plugs looked really good and clean. Another issue ive been having with it is the amount of oil it goes through. It uses almost 3 qts. a week and there is never any puddles under the truck or anything and doesnt appear to have an external leak and its obvious cylinders 2 and 7 are burning oil, could this have some kind of effect with it running to? what are some things i should check for? any help is appreciated
I would do a leakdown on all cylinders to get a better idea of where you stand.
Could be rings or intake valve seals.....
Have you checked the PCV and its plumbing?
Basically you want to see if those two cylinders are significantly higher leakdown than the others and that all should be within 5% or so of each other.
The advantage of a leakdown test is that you can tell WHERE it's leaking to.
You can listen to the oil fill, intake, exhaust or radiator and be well on your way to a solution.
well after doing a compression test cylinder 7 has almost no compression at all, cyl. 2 had about 85 and the rest were all up near 150. My inspection mechanic has a bore scope im gonna go there tomarrow and take a peak in those cylinders and see if i can see anything
