Questions about the EBV

Is it common for the EBV to operate when the truck has been running/idling for about two hours or so? I ask this because that is my situation currently...I was in PHX seeing a movie, returned a friend to her house, then drove 58 miles to my house and while cruising thru my nieghborhood (20-25 mph). I heard the EBV "jet engine noise" engage the current temp is like 15* to 20*. Any help would be great, and thanks in advance.

Yes it is normal. If the engine oil temp starts to drop then the EBPV kicks in to try and warm the engine back up and bring temps back to running temp.
Mine does it as well, specially in these cold times.
I have had it hissing at me while cruising down the hwy because it was so stinking cold out.
