Congrats on your new rig! Dont forget that maintenance is key on a 6.0! If your do your maintenance shell take great care of you.. If not, you'll be like some of the none fortunate 6.0 owners..

The safe thing to do is to presume past owner has not done any / much of the required maintenance.

Do a fresh start with complete "work up" as they call in the medical biz, and all new maintenance.

Do all the updates / fix the nearly obvious problems like EGR Carbon build...

Oh.. if the EOT/ECT is out of spec.. deal with it sooner rather than later.

Likewise for FICM..

Batteries and alternator check / replace as needed is almost mandatory.

They printed out the carfax to me and all the scheduled maintenance was done .... and the truck is almost perfect so i think the guy took care of it...plus he was 71 years old... and the warranty is good till 100,000...sooo lets hope she is good..or at least breaks down before 100,000..

OK.... do this....

a) presume he drove it as a grocery getter.

Check for EGR carbon build.. clean..

b) update flash

c) verify fuel and air filters changed

d) verify oil filter is proper one

e) change oil

f) after EGR cleaning.. run it hard (Italian tuneup)

g) don't let 100,000 roll up on you... you can get 200,000 mile warranty for very little before it expires.

If you decide to buy, buy top of line Ford.

Talk to partsguyed.com for a great deal.

Get rid of the tuner unless youre willing to eat the cost of warranty related repairs yourself.
