You'll want to bid it out if your in a bigger area and have some questions for them:
Type of material printed on (Company brand matters)
Ink they use (2-3 years for many eco-solvent inks)
Type of lamination they put on top of it
What their guarantee and warranty really covers
Ask for pictures of what they've done
Ask about the process and how long it will take
Ask to look at equipment if you feel spunky
A good wrap should last 4-5 years (and look sharp if you wash/take care of it) and maybe squeak out a 6th year before you'll want to wrap it again.
My daily driver is wrapped. I bought it used from a guy who owned a print shop. The graphics are what sealed the deal. I asked around as a thought experiment regarding cost to replace a full wrap. The consensus was $3500 to wrap an entire Excursion. From my research the vinyl is supposed to last between 5-7 years depending on conditions.
I've been outa sign shop business for many years (2004ish) so it looks like you should get 7 years now also which is nice.
Did a little more searching and you could do a solid color... just find a trust worthy shop, ask them for a price and they should print you a sample to see what it looks like out in the sun.
Somewhat understand a business ue for wrapping, but not sure I follow why do something for $3500 that last 5 years versus a $1000 paint job that last basically for the life of the vehicle ?
I can't imagine wrapping is more expensive than painting. But one obvious advantage is that the original paint remains untouched and the wrap can be safely removed
I just had my X painted last month due to an *** running a key down both sides of my X. The only thing that wasnt painted was the roof and the hood. $4600..... enough said.
In the S.FL sun it isn't going to last 7 years. Plus sometimes when they cut the vinyl they use an exacto knife and it hits the clearcoat. If you want flat black forget about the laminating over the vinyl. It usually is glossy. shine sells.
