Say you are using a 260 amphour alternator to recharge a 250 amphour 12v agm battery. I was under the impression that it would only take an hour for the vehicles motor to run to rechare the battery given the battery was drained, but then the instructions say it takes 6+ hours to recharge via standard ac outlet (because it is a deepcell and needs lower voltage). Also says that the battery should not be drained below 50-60%.
Anyone know how long it will take to recharge given just the alternator?
Perhaps there is different type of battery available that can do this in an hour?
b) charging efficiency (not all of energy is absorbed by battery)
Every type of battery have a "charging rate" maximum and also a "discharge rate" maximum, assuming you have a charger that can supply the proper voltage / current.
Generally, the faster the charge / discharge rates, the less the life of the batteries in the case of lead acid.
