You said you pulled the pickup out of the tank. Did you take the white plastic can apart and check the screens inside?
lid on makes no difference, i did not take white can apart but i did put plastic bag over main screen to see if there was any suction and there was not. truck has been dieing intermittently lately, and then running ok after sitting a day or so. its my fathers farm truck which isnt maintained well, and he lost his fuel cap for a few days so who knows what gets into his tank, but it was amazingly clean looking when i opened it up but filter is always dirty. also its in connecticut so does get below freezing but he puts heat in fuel. the bubbles coming into filter are pretty large as if blowing bubbles in your water cup with a straw. when i had pickup out, no fuel returned to tank either
Try removing the fuel line off the back of the fuel pump and attach a new fuel line. Put the other end into a bucket of fuel and cycle the key.. check the fuel bowl with the lid off again..
solved!!!!! well i hooked a seperate fuel line to pump and dropped into fuel can and it sucked right up. after pulling pickup out of tank again i took the white plastic thing apart to find it a little dirty but not bad. then i took a good close look at everything and found a crack in the little red rubber mouth thing, which was above the fuel level. put new rubber thing on....put back together....and turned the key and it filled filter housing right up! thanks for the tips guys, i really appreciate them all!
