school me

I need to be educated on the workings of the v10. I'm having fuel economy (lack of) issues. back ground on the subject, v10 cc 4x4 long bed. stock size tires 3.73 gears auto. have replaced fuel filter fuel pressure regulator fuel injectors knock sensor both o2s plugs cops all ujoints cam postion sensor . only mods are ypipe and 5 starred. averaging 7mpgs down from 2 year anniversary purchase of 12mpg.

data logging shows that the load will not go above 78. I need to know where the pcm gets the info to calculate the load.

my truck has no egr, rear o2 sensor, or coolant temp sensor.

any info will be much apperciated!

Why don't you have an egr? That could be part of the problem. The egr will lower combustion chamber temps under load.

Most 2-valve F-series trucks from 2000-up do not have EGR from the factory.

I fill myself and calculate by hand.

do some trucks only come with cylinder head temp sensors and no coolant temp sensors?

I didn't know that. Why did they stop using them?

Because at over 8500lbs GVWR, they were completely unnecessary to meet emissions.

Not to say it wouldn't have been a GOOD thing, but as soon as they went to PI heads in 2000, the EGR disappeared in the F-series except where it was absolutely required like California (maybe).

had the cat replaced last week, sounded like it had a bunch of bb's in it. cel came on, cam postion sensor. replaced it (2nd one in 28k miles) cleared the codes. cel came on again cam postion sensor again, cleared the code without replacing. mpgs in the dumper. about 75 miles in a half a tank. hoping someone steals this thing!
